I had been training with the Learn to Run Clinic at the Barrie Running Room. Our clinic goal race was the 5K Achilles St. Patrick’s Day Run in March 2005. All of the training had been during the winter and it had been very cold. I was accustomed to dressing with many layers and still being frozen. I was not prepared for how much heat the spring sun would add to the situation and I was severely overdressed on race day. None of my running clothes were disposable, so tossing them to the side of the race field was not an option. I donned them as best I could for one of the most ridiculous race pictures ever taken of me. Have you ever overdressed on race day? What did you do to adjust?
